Empowered by theHoly Spirit
When the Holy Spirit descends upon us in Baptism and Confirmation, he brings gifts that transform our natural abilities and enable us to live as true disciples of Christ. These seven gifts, rooted in the prophecy of Isaiah, have been recognised by the Church from her earliest days as essential equipment for the Christian life.
The gifts of Wisdom, Understanding, and Knowledge perfect our intellect, enabling us to grasp divine truth and see reality as God sees it. Counsel and Fortitude strengthen our will, helping us to choose rightly and persevere in difficulty. Piety and Fear of the Lord order our relationship with God, filling us with reverence and filial love for our heavenly Father.
In these pages, you will find clear explanations of each gift: what it is, how it works in our lives, and how we can cooperate with the Spirit to let these gifts flourish. Whether you are preparing for Confirmation or seeking to deepen your spiritual life, these resources will guide you.
